Legendary footballer Tony Adams took in the picturesque golfing fairways at Minchinhampton New Course as playing partner and revered actor Keith Allen opted for a spot of shopping instead.
In sweltering conditions, the former England and Arsenal captain took part in a three-ball with Stroud friends Piers Riseley-Prichard and Steve Ryder. And it was Adams who proved to be a dab hand as he came out on top with Robin Hood actor Keith Allen choosing Ikea as his preferred destination.
“Keith is a mad keen golfer and was supposed to play in a four-ball, but he opted for the shops instead,” revealed Piers.
Adams was in red-hot form, comfortably beating Riseley-Prichard and Ryder, leaving Riseley-Prichard magnanimous in defeat: “Steve and I were owned by the big man.”
