Hitting the right note, Nailsworth Silver Band claimed victory at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.

The band, competing in the Fourth Section, was praised for their ‘very good performance’ by adjudicators and Musical Director Anri Adachi was commended for her ‘nice musical touches.’

Adachi, who took up her post in January 2020, was thrilled with the band’s performance and said: “I am absolutely delighted that the hard work and focus of our band has been so richly rewarded by this – the most prestigious of prizes. Nailsworth Silver Band is a fantastic community of like-minded musicians, and I feel privileged to be part of their success.”

The National Championships completed a brace of awards for Nailsworth Silver, as flugel horn player Hazel Clifton won the prize for Best Instrumentalist.

The band, who have only qualified for the National Championships twice before (2019 and 1967) have never won the title, making this an extra special achievement for all involved.
