New Forest Green boss Ian Burchnall faces a baptism of fire when his side open their inaugural first season in League One.
Rovers start the season with a short trip to Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers on Saturday, July 30 at the ground where they secured their historic promotion last month. Next up for Rovers is a mouth-watering match at home to former European champions Ipswich Town the following Saturday.
In a tough opening month, Rovers travel to Sheffield Wednesday on August 27th.
Former FA Cup winners Portsmouth come to Nailsworth in October.
Meanwhile, Burchnall’s League One newbies travel to Wayne Rooney’s Derby County on December 17 and face the Rams at the New Lawn in April.
The much-anticipated El Glosico returns on December 10th when the Robins make the short trip to Nailsworth with the second installment taking place at Whaddon Road on April 22.
The traditional Christmas and new year games see Rovers go to MK Dons on Boxing Day with Darrell Clarke’s Port Vale travelling to Rovers on New Year’s Day. Forest Green finish the season at Cambridge United on May 5.
