Author and illustrator Hannah Shaw joined staff and pupils at Thrupp Primary School to officially open the new library on Friday.

Deputy headteacher Ailsa Catt said: “Staff and pupils at Thrupp School were extremely excited to open their new library this morning. The library has undergone a huge transformation over the course of the last 18 months and this morning local children’s author Hannah Shaw led an assembly and workshops throughout the school to celebrate. It is a truly wonderful space where the children can get cosy and love books!

Year 4 pupils Madison and Jasper join author Hannah Shaw to open the new library.

“At Thrupp we pride ourselves on our children’s reading and we are hoping that a new library will further install and embed a love of reading.  The children will visit the library with their classes, but we are also planning to open the library during lunchtimes and after school.

“Our families will be able to come along at the end of the school day to choose books that can be shared at home. What a treat!”
