Gloucestershire Police have issued a statement following racist abuse towards Forest Green head coach Troy Deeney.
The former Premier League striker took to social media to reveal that he has been sent sickening online racist abuse.
Sharing the message on his Instagram Story that read: ‘Dumb n****, f***** idiot shut ya mouth kiddddd’, Deeney responded with the message ‘Here we go again’.
A statement from Gloucestershire Police said: “Following a report of a racist comment being made on social media in relation to Forest Green Rovers, an investigation is being carried out by the UK Football Policing Unit.
“Officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary are working with the club in support of this investigation.”
