Unexpected pool floor condition delays Stratford Park Lido reopening

MOST READ

The reopening date for Stratford Park Lido has been revised after restoration works uncovered that the condition of the pool floor was significantly worse than originally anticipated.

Despite the revised reopening date of Saturday, August 15, the project continues to make strong progress. The principal contractor remains on programme against the updated schedule, with no further delays currently forecast. Weekend working has also been authorised to help maintain momentum, particularly following periods of wet weather and the recent heatwave, which have presented challenging site conditions.

Recruitment of lifeguards continues to progress positively, with 44 applications received to date, helping to ensure the facility is ready to welcome swimmers once construction is complete.

The Council will continue to publish regular progress reports on the dedicated Stratford Park Lido webpage as work continues towards reopening.
