Lee Stopford is eyeing an unprecedented Stroud Half Marathon treble when he steps foot on the start line on Sunday.
On the back of wins in 2021 and 2022, the 38-year-old is gunning for a third winners medal.
“It would be great to win it for a third consecutive year and I absolutely love this race,” said Lee, who has run for his hometown club Stroud AC since 2016.
Stopford is hoping his experience of the course will prove to be pivotal on the day: “I know the route well and this will be the 14th time I’ve run it.
“Training is going well and I will also be running Malaga Marathon in December, so I’m looking forward to seeing what shape I’m in.”
A co-owner of Cotswold Way Scaffolding, Stopford isn’t expecting an easy ride on the undulating course: “There are lots of great local runners around and many of them from Stroud AC.”
