Update on Brimscombe road works

MOST READ

Wales & West Utilities is making strong progress on its essential gas mains upgrade along the London Road area of Brimscombe, with work remaining firmly on schedule for completion by 16 January next year.

The project, which began at the end of October, is upgrading ageing gas pipes to ensure a safe, reliable and future-ready gas network for local residents and businesses. Working closely with Gloucestershire County Council, the utility has agreed to maintain multi-way traffic lights on London Road throughout the project to allow work to proceed as efficiently and safely as possible.

Mick Gallavin, who is managing the scheme for Wales & West Utilities, said:“We are making good progress with this project and are on track to finish it by 16 January.

“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of this community. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

We have planned this project with the local council to minimise disruption as much as possible, but appreciate that works like this will have an impact on the local community. This work is essential, however, to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”

Wales & West Utilities provides the gas emergency and pipeline service for over 7.5 million people across Wales and the south west of England. The company does not sell gas; it transports it through more than 35,000 km of underground pipes.

If you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, call the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999 immediately. Engineers are on hand 24/7 to keep you safe.
