Celebrating the steady growth of Stroud Times, the team behind five valleys’ community news site is excited to announce the arrival of Simon Hacker in a new role as Promotions Editor.
Co-creator in 2018 of the Wotton Times newspaper alongside our photographer and videographer Matt Bigwood, Simon brings a wealth of experience as a journalist, having spent many years writing for the Guardian and the Sunday Times.
“As we hope to move on from the pandemic, the role of local journalism has never been so vital,” said Simon, who began his career reporting with the Bailey Newspaper Group. “We’ve witnessed the way people have pulled together across the five valleys, in step with the wave of support for Stroud Times.”
Simon will be reporting news and features, alongside a special role reinforcing our partnership with businesses who share a stake in Stroud’s future wellbeing.
“We’ve watched Stroud Times build-up fantastic momentum with increasing visits per month and more and more readers – the appetite for local journalism is keen as ever,” he said. “We now enjoy key support from businesses of all sizes – and watch this space for more exciting news!”
“I’m delighted to welcome Simon to our team,” said co-founder and editor Ash Loveridge. “Simon is the perfect fit to help drive the content and advertising side of the business to the next level.”
