Urgent plea after man, 80s, on mobility scooter is seriously injured in crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in Stroud yesterday, Thursday, involving the driver of a black Ford Fiesta and a man riding a mobility scooter.

The incident happened on Dudbridge Road near Lidl at around 3pm.

A man in his 80s was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A woman, aged in her 20s and from Surrey, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit, driving with no insurance and driving with no MOT.

She has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The road was closed in both directionsfor a number of hours whilst emergency services attended the scene and it has since been reopened. 

Officers investigating the collision are continuing their enquiries and have reviewed CCTV footage from around the time of the incident.

They are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam footage and has not yet spoken to police, to come forward.
