A new family-run deli catering for the vegan market is now open in Five Valleys in Stroud.
Husband and wife team, James and Charlotte Lawrence, set up Vegicatessen online 16 months ago when James was made redundant mid-pandemic.
Following the success from the website, the couple were encouraged to search for their first bricks and mortar store and chose Five Valleys as the ideal location to develop their passion further and fill a gap in the market.
James said: “We both feel passionately about delivering exemplary customer service and offering the very best in quality and range of plant-based produce.
“We visit Stroud every weekend as we find it to be a vibrant town boasting lots of culture with a community of people that really supports small, independent businesses.”
Vegicatessen is the fusion between veganism and the indulgence of a great delicatessen, offering a wide range of vegan alternatives including Cashew based artisan cheeses and a selection of charcuterie meat.
Alongside the deli counter, which will also display a wide range of gourmet sandwiches and nutritious salads to takeaway, a wide range of ambient goods will also be available including condiments and cooking sauces such as their bestselling Vegan Honea and Natures Charm Salted Caramel Sauce.
James and Charlotte pride themselves on hand picking and personally endorsing all products and sourcing delicacies that you will not find in the major supermarkets.
Wherever possible Vegicatessen will stock products from Stroud and Gloucestershire-based producers and would urge anybody specialising in vegan and plant-based products to get in touch.
Vegicatessen will also be donating one per cent of spend towards ethical causes as the business model provides the couple with a tool to carry out their activism as well as provide a platform to share how delicious plant-based food is.
Centre Manager for Five Valleys, Jessica Derham, said: “It’s wonderful to see another quality foodie business join our centre.
“The centre is undergoing a huge multi-million-pound transformation currently and the businesses joining us on this journey are a huge part of the Five Valleys transformation.
“We look forward to the new medical centre opening in the Autumn and to becoming the main hub for health and wellbeing in the town with this great new addition.”
The new vegan deli is open 7 days a week and has created four new jobs. Vegicatessen offers UK wide delivery and a click and collect service. For more information on their products please visit: www.vegicatessen.co.uk
