Torrential rain on Saturday morning meant hasty rescheduling of events at Stroud Steampunk weekend.
A planned parade around the town at midday was abandoned to the weather but events took place in Lansdown Hall – including the inaugural Alice in Wonderland crazy croquet competition.
“I’m assuming people will be looking for something to do indoors – and this event has just turned into something to do indoors for pretty much everyone,” said Tom Brown, one of the organisers of the annual event.
Steampunk is described as ‘a style of literature, music, dress, or performance that is inspired by a combination of Victorian and futuristic ideals.’
“Today we’ve got talks, Alice in Wonderland croquet and tea duelling – which is a wonderful gateway for people who have not encountered steampunk before. Once you have a tea duel you’ll be one of us.”
Events continue at Lansdown Hall this evening with music from Inkubus Sukkubus, Professor Elemental, Jessica Law and The Cogkneys.
More activities are planned for tomorrow in Lansdown Hall and Bank Gardens, starting at 11am. For more details and tickets visit: Stroud Steampunk presents Tickets, Lansdown Hall & Gallery, Stroud | TryBooking United Kingdom
