Stroud Times was given a guided tour of the newly reopened Old Neighbourhood pub in Chalford Hill.
Owner Wes Birch, of Birch Catering, who runs the much-loved Ship Inn in Brimscombe which has garnered a reputation for its high-quality food, said: “The team worked tirelessly, and we reopened after 47 working days.”

The pub, which is open seven days a week, has proved popular: “Everybody did a wonderful job to get this pub open. It was a complete team effort, and the community helped us massively as well,” said Mr Birch.
The bar area has been extended and now features real ales from Wye Valley, Butcombe and Uley breweries.
Work continues on reopening the pub’s kitchen, and Mr Birch said food should be available from September.

The Old Neighbourhood, previously known as The Mechanic’s Arms and dating back to the 19th century, closed more than two years ago and was the focus of an incredible community campaign to reopen it.
