Waking up to a blanket of snow

Stroud and the surrounding district have woken up to a surprise blanket of snow.

Readers have been posting their early morning snow pictures on our Facebook page as the white stuff settled overnight.

A number of grassroots football matches are expected to be called off this afternoon, with Shortwood United’s Meadowbank ground covered in snow.

The Met Office has a yellow warning in place for snow from 6am-10am on Saturday 2 March.

National Highways warned motorists to “allow extra time”, saying the warning was in place until 10:00 GMT.
