We need your help to improve transport for young people

Young peoples’ views are needed as part of efforts to improve transport for them – and they could win £50 in vouchers by filling in a quick survey.

Stroud District Council is encouraging young people to participate in a travel needs survey – it will help transport providers learn more about what young people need and what infrastructure needs to be put in place, including cycling and use of scooters.

Stroud District Youth Council is working in cooperation with Gloucestershire Community Rail Partnership (GCRP) to seek the views and opinions of young people (aged between 10-25) on transport and travel within the county.

The GCRP formed in 2020 and involves many local organisations including; local authorities, Active Gloucestershire, University of Gloucestershire and many more. Though the GCRP mainly focuses on rail transport it is committed to improving all areas of transport in Gloucestershire.

This is an important survey that will help to understand the travel needs of young people in Gloucestershire and will help to support a number of initiatives and projects. Positive change to transport will not only improve young people’s access to current and future career prospects but also to education and leisure opportunities.

Participants of the survey will also have the chance to win one of four vouchers worth £50.

Ben Stone, Leader of Stroud District Youth Council is passionate about young people helping to make positive changes to travel, he said:

“I strongly encourage all young people to complete this survey so they can have their voices heard on the many travel issues which we experience. The results of this survey will influence the future of all transportation within Gloucestershire for young people”.

This survey comes at a particularly significant time as transport services are trying to recover and improve their offering after being hit by the pandemic.

Those over the age of 25 are encouraged to promote and share access to the survey.

All results will be combined, so that participants remain anonymous.
