Wellington gives Westbury the boot

A brace from Jake Wellington gave Shortwood Reserves a GFA County Cup final victory over Westbury at Bishop’s Cleeve, writes Jim Cunneen.

Westbury had early chances but Wood created their own and it took a goal of real quality to break the deadlock. Keegan Bowes excellent pass found Wellington who thundered the ball home from 20 yards.

Minutes later the unfortunate keeper fumbled a corner and Wellington was on hand to hook the ball high into the net from close range to give Wood a 2-0 lead.  On the stroke of half-time Westbury pulled one back from a corner themselves through Dillano Pennant, but Matt Fanstone’s side saw the game out to lift the cup.
