For many fans, one of the most anticipated days of the football calendar is when the team you support release their new shirt for the upcoming season.
Almost as exciting as the new shirt reveal is reading the reaction to it. Cheers or jeers?
We asked fans on our Facebook page what they thought of the new shirts which retail at £45 for adults…
“Looks ridiculous!! Keir Starmer is the only other person who could think this would be a good idea.” – Dave Kirby.
“Kat Slater springs to mind, they’ll all be looking for a job at The Queen Vic.” – Patricia Carpenter.
“Just when you couldn’t love him any more.” – Clare Honeyfield.
“Just return to traditional black and white stripes.” – Alastair Taylor.
“But Leopards aren’t plant-based.” – Oliver Smith.
“Visually, my immediate reaction is shock. It will grow on me if the ‘leopard’ design is reflected in the players’ speed, aggression and willingness to attack their prey. I also think kids will love it if they are allowed to ignore adults’ conformity.
“Almost all our recent kits have been initially unique, then several copied by other clubs. I hope it becomes popular as the decision to retain it for two years is an admirable one.
“Other pluses are the partnership with the Vegan Society ensuring materials such as the dyes are plant based. It’s also recyclable – made from recycled materials and can be recycled afterwards.
“Having looked again, I can’t yet smile at what I see and hope it doesn’t provoke the usual backlash against Forest Green’s willingness to innovate and be different.
“I’m sure if we perform well on the pitch the kit will not be an issue for FGR fans, if our opponents and their fans don’t like it I will steadfastly defend it.” – Phil Butterworth.
“Not April 1st already is it?” – Gregg Hayes.
“Awful.” – Stephen Thatcher.
“Terrible.” – Marc Giddings.
“Lush.” – Christina Snell.
Take my money, It’s wicked – Jack Niblett.
“I love that they are spearheading a new sustainable way with the kit. Looks good too but that’s less important to me.” – Jesse Carrington.
“Love the Kit , let’s hope it scares the competition.” – Martin Turner.
