Following its triumphant sold outness back in February 2022 the annual Good On Paper Party returns once again for its seventh outing on Saturday 4th February 2023 at the Sub Rooms. First launched in 2016 the GOP Party acts as a fundraiser for the magazine (long live the printed word) whilst bringing forth a hoard of artists, musicians, DJ’s and more to celebrate the vibrant, creative scene which Stroud is increasingly becoming renowned for. FLEE tells the story of Amin Nawabi as he grapples with a painful secret, he has kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life he has built for himself and his soon to be husband. Recounted mostly through animation to director Jonas Poher Rasmussen, he tells for the first time the story of his extraordinary journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan.

An Evening with Ocean Colour Scene’s Simon & Oscar. Intimate acoustic performances of all their big hits and anthems, including The Riverboat Song, The Circle, Traveller’s Tune, Hundred Mile High City and The Day We Caught The Train. The Smyths, the world’s premier tribute to The Smiths, are back! Strangeways, Here We Come is the album The Smiths never got to play live, having being released after the band had split. Using the 35th anniversary of the album’s release, The Smyths perform the album in full for the first time ever, anywhere! As usual, as well as featuring the tracks on the album, this gig will consist of a second set of hits and b-sides from Manchester’s finest.

STROUD FILM SOCIETY PRESENTS: THE OUFIT
An expert tailor, Leonard (Mark Rylance), must outwit a dangerous group of mobsters in order to survive a fateful night. The Outfit is set in one location, Leonards corner shop, in 1950s Chicago where his most valuable customers happen to be members of the mob that also use his workstation PO Box for business. A number of twists in the tale, right up to the final scene, keep this thriller thrilling.
