Stroud-based Capriol Chamber Orchestra is looking forward to February 12th when they will once again be performing to the public at Holy Trinity Church in Stroud.
This time, as well as their evening concert, they present a special Children’s Matinee performance of ‘Peter and the Wolf’ by Prokofiev at 4pm.
The orchestra are joined by multi-talented Paul McLaughlin, who will narrate the tale, and there is an invitation to dress up as your favourite character – please don’t think that’s just for the kids! Who would you like to be for the afternoon? The Wolf? The Cat? Maybe the Bird or the unfortunate Duck? Or the hero Peter? You can take part in a colouring in competition and win a prize for the best entry.
The orchestra will be back at 7.30 pm for an exciting and varied evening programme which includes the Concerto for Horn and Orchestra by Tom Kane with soloist Fabian van de Geest, Beethoven’s epic 3rd symphony the ‘Eroica’ and – yes – another performance of Peter and the Wolf!
Conducted by Jonathan Trim with leader Steve McDade, the orchestra couldn’t be happier about the return to live music-making in Stroud.
There will be a retiring collection for the Stroud based charity ‘The Door’.
