Stroud High School head Mark McShane has heaped praise on his students after they achieved outstanding GCSE results.
Mr McShane said: “This has been a celebration of what young people can achieve, even when significant parts of their education were turned upside down by the events of the past few years.

“I would not want anyone to underestimate how well these students have performed since the pandemic to complete GCSE courses to the very highest of standards. They have shown what is possible in a community of
like-minded staff and students.

“I am delighted that so many students have managed to excel across the full curriculum. 44% of students achieved 8 or more grades 7-9, with a fifth of students gaining 8 or more grades 9-8. This is no mean feat.”
