Wolves sack former Forest Green boss Rob Edwards

Wolverhampton Wanderers have sensationally sacked former Forest Green boss Rob Edwards after the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

The decision to sack Edwards is believed to have come as a shock to the ex-Forest Green boss and his coaching staff, who had no indication their futures were in doubt until late on Wednesday night.

Edwards spent just seven months at Wolves after he walked out on Championship side Middlesbrough to take the job.

Edwards had been preparing for next season in the Championship by signing Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier and bringing back Mexico striker Raul Jimenez from Fulham, both on free transfers.

Edwards took charge at Molineux in November, replacing Vitor Pereira. Wolves finished bottom of the Premier League with Edwards winning five and losing 16 of his 30 matches in charge, losing 16.

It is understood the Gil Vicente manager, César Peixoto, has been targeted as his replacement.
