Woman’s body recovered from canal

A woman’s body has been recovered from a canal in Stroud after emergency services scrambled to the incident on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said: “At around 10.45am yesterday (Sunday) we were called to the canal near Brimscombe after a member of public saw a body in the water. Emergency services attended and a woman aged in her 50s was removed from the canal. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the woman’s next of kin and the coroner have been informed.”
