Wrexham AFC 6 Forest Green 0 – Rovers on cusp of back-to-back relegations

Forest Green’s seven-year tenure in the Football League is all but over.

Rovers were well and truly schooled 6-0 at Wrexham, guaranteeing The Dragons back-to-back promotions and leaving Steve Cotterill’s side destined for a return to the National League.

Bottom of the table Rovers have played two games more than relegation rivals Colchester, who shocked play-off hopefuls Crawley Town 3-2 this afternoon.

The U’s will relegate Rovers on Tuesday night, if they gain a point at home to Grimsby Town. Danny Cowley’s side sit five points clear of the drop zone, with two games in hand.

Rovers travel to Morecambe next Saturday and finish the season at home to Notts County on the final day.

Two goals in the space of six first-half minutes from former Luton Town midfielder Elliot Lee and striker Paul Mullin put Phil Parkinson’s side in driving seat, with an own goal from Rovers’ Ryan Inniss ten minutes later before Mullin added a fourth before the break. Ryan Barnett bagged a fifth goal in the 63rd minute before substitute Jack Marriot made it six in the 84th minute.
