Stroud town mayor Stella Parkes returned to The Shambles Indoor Market on Friday where she is available once a week to talk to residents about any Stroud issues.
“Having a table in the indoor market is a good way of sharing information while people are out and about doing their shopping in town on a Friday,” said Cllr Parkes. “I really appreciate that the Indoor market has made space to fit me in.”
The tradition of meeting the public like this was started by former mayor John Marjoram who used to sit on a bench in Kendrick Street and chat to people.
“It is a great way to find out what local people think about what is happening in the town, said Stella. “And I get to meet many visitors who come from far and wide because they have heard about the town and want to find out more about it.”
Cllr Parkes can be found at the Shambles Indoor Market every Friday between 11.30am until 1pm.
