As the country swelters in another heatwave, what could be better than a trip to the beach in a classic VW campervan?

Much loved by the surfing fraternity, Wotton Auction Rooms is selling a Volkswagen Type 2, first registered in March 1973, in their sale next week on Wednesday, July 16th (lot 1619). The van was completely overhauled in 2018 and fitted with a new 1600cc engine which has only covered 200 miles.

“It’s an iconic thing that all of us would love to take home and we’ve estimated her at £10,000-£12,000 and I think we’ll see that and more for this fantastic period piece,” said auctioneer Joseph Trinder.

The Type 2 was introduced in Europe in 1967 and remained in production until 1979, with more than 3,000,000 being produced in that period.
