Youth sport: Painswick and Dursley join forces

Painswick and Dursley have joined forces to create a new rugby team for girls.

Kate Cropper, administrator for the newly-formed Five Valleys Valkyries said: “At U12s, rugby splits into boys and girls. This can cause difficulties for girls who have played mixed rugby with their local mini section, but then have nowhere to go.

“We want to provide a choice for girls living in Stroud, Dursley, Painswick, Stonehouse, Wootton and the Severn Valley to the west, to come and enjoy and learn rugby without having to travel so far.”

The Five Valley Valkyries is open to girls who wish to come and try out or develop their rugby in a fun environment, make new friends, or improve their rugby.  Anyone interested should get in touch through their local contact, either Chris Coombs at secretary@painswickrugby.co.uk or Kate Cropper at girls.dursleyrfc@gmail.com.

This week’s training session will be on Sunday at Painswick Rugby Club, starting at 10am.
