Randall & Payne, one of Gloucestershire’s most established accountancy and business advisory firms, has proudly achieved Certified B Corporation (B Corp) status, officially joining a global movement of businesses committed to balancing profit with purpose.
This milestone reinforces Randall & Payne’s commitment to supporting clients, colleagues, and the wider community through responsible, sustainable business practices.

Now, by achieving B Corp certification, the business is making a powerful statement: that deep heritage and modern, progressive purpose are an incredibly powerful combination. While the B Corp movement is relatively new, founded in 2006, its framework for measuring social and environmental performance represents a return to an earlier, more holistic understanding of commerce – one where a business’s license to operate was inherently tied to the value it created for all stakeholders, not just shareholders.

“For 146 years, we’ve been trusted advisers to local businesses,” said Tim Watkins, Managing Partner at Randall & Payne. “Becoming a B Corp reflects what’s always been at the heart of what we do, helping people and businesses thrive in a way that creates positive impact for our community and beyond.”
A growing movement in Gloucestershire and beyond
B Corp certification is awarded to businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. The certification process is rigorous, examining governance, workers, community, environment, and customer impact, which are known as the five pillars, or impact areas.

Randall & Payne joins a rapidly growing network of 78 B Corps in Gloucestershire, part of the growing B Local Gloucestershire community. Across the UK, there are now more than 3,500 certified B Corps and of those over 2,700 have UK headquarters, but only 27 are accountancy firms — making Randall & Payne one of only a small number of B Corp accountants in the country, and currently the only one in the county.

“Our clients rely on us to guide them through complex decisions. Being a B Corp means we’re holding ourselves to the same high standards we encourage them to aspire to,” added Shaun Pegler, Partner. “We’re proud to stand alongside so many inspiring Gloucestershire businesses who are proving that doing good and doing well can go hand in hand.”
The journey to B Corp certification
Randall & Payne’s certification is the culmination of years of improvements across all areas of the business within the five impact areas.
After judging a Green and Sustainability Business Award category last summer, Shaun realised how far the firm had come, and with robust systems and a strong ethos and culture in place, Randall & Payne could demonstrate having adopted the B Corp way.

The firm has held its ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for establishing an environmental management system since 2022 and has held a Zero to Landfill certificate with Printwaste for over a decade.
Key metrics are tracked to target a reduction in areas such as energy usage and general waste, as well as making improvements to their office building such as installing LED lighting and sensors and low flush cisterns.
Randall & Payne’s employee benefits package, social area and overall focus on their team’s wellbeing show they care about their people who get involved with awareness days and charitable activities for their chosen corporate charity.
Client testimonials and case studies demonstrate that client success is top of their agenda, summarised by their strapline, “We make your success our priority”.

A trusted partner with purpose
For 146 years, Randall & Payne has stood alongside Gloucestershire businesses through change and growth. Achieving B Corp certification reflects both its heritage and its forward-looking vision: to help businesses thrive in a way that benefits everyone.
“This isn’t the end of the journey — it’s the beginning of an exciting new chapter,” said Shaun Pegler. “We’re proud to show that accountancy and advisory can be a force for good.”
