A popular annual event in Stroud will start this evening despite other events cancelled due to Storm Darragh.

Stroud Goodwill evening is still taking place tonight, Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7.

Organisers said: “We are pressing ahead with the celebrations as we have contingency plans for poor weather.

“It may rain, but that need not mask our smiles!”

“Dig out your raincoats, hats, maybe even sun cream – who knows! – and check Stroud.uk/StroudGoodwill for our latest schedules and announcements.”

Meanwhile, Stonehouse Goodwill evening has been cancelled. A statement on Facebook said: “Sadly, due to Storm Darragh’s predicted heavy rain and wind speeds, we have had to cancel this year’s Stonehouse Goodwill Festival.

“We will try to reschedule a similar event in the spring.”
