Stratford Park update

A major event at Stratford Park has been cancelled.

A spokesperson for Stroud District Council said: “We regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision that the Winter Woodland event in Stratford Park on Sunday, December 15 has been cancelled.

“We have made this decision due to the very large number of people who have expressed an interest in attending the event. It was taken following detailed discussions with Health & Safety and Event Management specialists. The safety of our communities is the most important thing and, as such, we do not feel it would be appropriate to continue with the event in the original format.

“This decision does not affect the activities at Active Lifestyles Stroud (previously called Stratford Park Leisure Centre) or Museum in the Park. The miniature railway and brass bands will also take place.

“The stalls, marshmallow toasting, birds of prey, donkey, treasure trail, Santa’s workshop and carol singing will now not go ahead.

“We are pleased that there are so many exciting Christmas themed events running in our district – for more information about these, please visit www.visitstroud.uk/ChristmasEvents2024

“Please check with the event organisers before travelling due to the weather conditions this weekend.”
