A 72 year-old grandfather is set to run 121 miles over eight gruelling days to raise funds for special needs school in Stroud.
Sladewood Academy is raising funds to develop a safe and fully accessible playground. This will enable all children, regardless of their mobility or sensory needs, to access the play area safely and enjoy equal opportunities for engagement, exploration, and social interaction.
Stan Bradbury told Stroud Times: “My granddaughter Maggie attends a very lovely special needs school in Stroud – Sladewood Academy.
“Maggie has a genetic condition which means she is non verbal and has global developmental delays.
“Maggie loves her school. She has made great progress with her communication and is doing things we never thought were possible thanks to Sladewood.
“I plan to run from my home in Weybridge, Surrey to Sladewood school, a total of 121 miles, and no doubt more when I get a bit lost along the way. I aim to run it in eight days at an average of 15-16 miles per day.
“The route will take me along the Wey Navigation canal, the Basingstoke canal, the Kennet and Avon canal and the last part of the Thames Path, plus all the connecting bits. I’m planning to run from September 8-15th.”
