Stroud-based food company, Kitchen Garden Foods, are celebrating another year of incredible food safety standards.

Kitchen Garden Foods – who are artisan manufacturers of sauces, jams, pickles & condiments – along with  their brand of on-the-go food, Wolfys – have received SALSA certification for another year, along with a very good Environmental Health visit.

James Horwood, co-owner, said: “July was another memorable month for us, as we received top marks in our latest SALSA Food Safety certification”

James added: “The SALSA  certification (which stands for Safe and Local Supplier Approval) is a very important standard for us as it not only allows us to manufacturer for other brands, but also sell into some of the major retailers. It also proves that the food we make is safe & legal, that our standards are high and that all paperwork is tip-top. I’m really proud of our food safety recorded, having maintained SALSA for well over two decades. This year we had a total of zero corrective actions!“

Kitchen Garden also has also recently had a visit from Stroud District Council Environmental Health department.

James Moinet, co-owner, said: “In addition to our SALSA audit, we also saw EHO visit our kitchens in Stroud during an unannounced inspection. And although unannounced, these inspections are really valuable to us to ensure we are maintaining high standards. It’s also reassuring to know they visit other food premises to ensure their standards are high, too.”

Mr Moinet added: “Our inspection came back with “very good standards” with no follow-up letter. This is really impressive and something we’re very proud of”

In addition to the above inspections, Kitchen Garden Foods also saw visits from the US FDA, HSE, Trading Standards and Soil Association in recent years – all without issue.

James Horwood said: “We have an incredible team here who work very hard to ensure that not only our product quality is very high, but our food standards and traceability is perfect – and we are very proud of what they do.”

Established in 1989 by Barbara Moinet, Award-winning Kitchen Garden Foods is independently owned by James Horwood and James Moinet. They own and manufacturers the Wolfy’s, NAFF, & Kitchen Garden brands as well as manufacturing for many others. They have over 200 products in their range with well over 100 awards and manufacture their products at Salmon Springs, in Stroud.
