Forest Green Rovers have announced a major overhaul of their backroom staff, with assistant manager John McMahon, long-serving coach Dan Connor, head of medical Jake Roe and recruitment analyst Tom Carter all departing the New Lawn. Goalkeeping coach Dan Watson also left the club yesterday.
McMahon, the brother of former Liverpool and England midfielder Steve McMahon, joined Rovers alongside manager Robbie Savage following their exit from Macclesfield FC last summer.
Connor was recruited by former Rovers boss Mark Cooper from Wigan Athletic in 2019 as goalkeeping coach. During his time at the club, he worked under several managers and twice stepped into caretaker roles, assisting interim bosses Jimmy Ball and Hannah Dingley before taking temporary charge himself following the dismissal of Troy Deeney. He also served as assistant manager under former head coach Steve Cotterill.
Before joining Forest Green, Connor held coaching roles with Wigan Athletic, Shrewsbury Town, Hereford United and the Republic of Ireland national under-21 football team as goalkeeping coach.
A club spokesperson said: “The club would like to express its thanks to the following staff members for their services to the club, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
