A Coaley resident has appealed for an 11-day road closure to be suspended, warning it could leave disabled family members without guaranteed access for emergency vehicles and potentially cut some residents off from their homes.
Luke Honeychurch, who lives on The Street, has lodged a formal objection with Gloucestershire County Council’s highways department over plans for a full road closure expected to operate for up to 12 hours a day from 24th July – 7th August.
He says the proposals would cause major disruption for residents, commuters and local businesses, while raising serious concerns about emergency healthcare access for vulnerable people.

Mr Honeychurch, who is also the landlord of The Hog at Horsley, has contacted Stroud MP Dr Simon Opher and is urging Gloucestershire County Council to pause the scheme and carry out further consultation with affected residents. He says people in the village are prepared to stage a peaceful protest if the works go ahead without changes.
Residents concerned about the planned road closure in Coaley will have the chance to speak directly with Gloucestershire County Highways at a drop-in session at Coaley Village Hall on Friday between 12pm and 2pm.
