The Sharpness Vintage Vehicle Gathering show returned last week with a large turnout of road vehicles including many motorbikes and cars, writes Rich Kelsey.
The weather was certainly good, however if the weather is good or bad for this show – it never puts off the exhibitors, petrol heads and families attending. The Sharpness Vintage Vehicle Gathering (renamed in 2024 from the ‘Sharpness Faithfull’) was started many years ago by Ken Faithfull a well-known vintage commercial vehicle enthusiast.
This year’s event was managed by volunteers from SVTEC (Stroud Vintage Traction Engine Club) with assistance from Sharpness Sports and Social Club. The show started at 3pm at the club (a friendly and well-run not-for-profit community facility), admission to the show is by donation only.
The annual mid-week rally is always a casual drop-in for showcasing vintage classic cars from pre- and post-war, including classic American cars, lots of motorbikes and scooters, trucks, hot rods, military vehicles, buses from the early 1900s to the modern era.
As you can see from the photos it was a great turn out, and a chance to socially chat all things motoring and more. After taking in the show for a few hours, we ended the evening at the Berkeley Arms at Purton (ex -Ted Lords) that has been recently renovated and re-opened, a handful of vintage bikes and cars also arrived after the gathering at Sharpness.
