Wales & West Utilities is starting a project to upgrade the gas pipes in the Horsley area of Nailsworth.
The work begins on 7 September and, all going to plan, will be complete by 5 November It is vital to ensuring gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area – helping to keep people warm for decades to come.
The gas emergency and pipeline service held a drop-in session for the local community earlier in the month and has planned the project with Gloucestershire County Council. It has been agreed that traffic management will be in place throughout, which includes multi-way traffic lights.
At the beginning of the project three-way lights will be in place on the junction of Horsley Hill and Narrowcut Lane, which will then reduce to two-way lights as work progresses along Horsley Hill. Road closures may be required but these will be in place for short durations. Motorists are advised to allow sufficient travel time.
The project is part of Wales & West Utilities wider work to invest over £7.5 million over the next two years to upgrade gas pipes across Gloucestershire. The intensive programme of wider mains replacement works will see nearly 26 kilometres of gas pipes upgraded across the area as the company upgrades the critical energy infrastructure in the area to benefit approximately 2,600 local customers.
