Amberley Artisans is a group of artists and craftspeople who live and work within a mile of the village. The group is currently exhibiting at Three Storeys in Nailsworth, selling unique, handmade gifts.

“Amberley village has quite a large number of practicing artists and makers, many of whom had exhibited in open studio trails over the years and had become friends through doing these and other events together,” explained Susie Hetherington.

“We decided to set up an annual Christmas sale between us in 2017, which originally started small; just one weekend in Littleworth Hall, Amberley. About eight key members from the village came together, with one or two from other villages surrounding the Common, in that first year. Since then our group has grown, and we have also invited guest artists to join in each year, to keep the handmade art and products on sale varied and enticing.

“We also extended the dates over a longer period to meet demand. We have really enjoyed exhibiting at Gallery 1673 in Inchbrook, as guests of one Amberley Artisan member, Tom Knowles-Jackson of the Clayloft,” added Susie.

The group will be exhibiting at Three Storeys in Nailsworth from tomorrow evening, Friday, November 19th.

“After a bit of a break due to the pandemic, this year we are taking a little road trip to open our market at Three Storeys, Nailsworth, on the Old Bristol Road, which is run by another Amberley Artisan, Nicki Schmiegelow,” said Susie.

“We love to see familiar faces and loyal customers at this annual event but are also delighted to meet new shoppers who want to buy local and handmade this Christmas. So, if a festive atmosphere and a real mix of original art is your thing, come and take a look and at the paintings, prints, ceramics, sculpture, jewellery, textiles, cards, cushions, lampshades, notebooks, baskets, scarves…the list is endless and there is something for everyone.”

The gallery is open from 5-9pm on Friday, November 19th and daily from November 20th to 28th (closed Monday 22nd). To find out more visit: The Amberley Artisans – About the group
