Angela Dandy will publish her fourth novel in the Silveries series, The Silver Dagger.
Following her husband’s diagnosis with cancer, Angela retired from a corporate career in project management and dedicated her time to caring for him, and latterly to her late mother. A roller coaster ride, she then survived breast cancer before embarking on a new life. With novelists going way back in her family, she decided to follow in their footsteps. In 2015, Angela reinvented herself as an author – one with a mission.
Angela said: “Along the road, I learned not to underestimate the capability, determination and resilience of the older generation or those with infirmities. I learned that their love of life and sense of adventure was enduring.
“I learned how much they enrich all our lives. I found my mission. I determined to be their voice. I soon wrote my first book in The Silveries series, The Silver Sting. The Silver Dollar, California Dreaming and now The Silver Dagger follow the adventures of the resourceful and endearing residents of Magnolia Court retirement community.
“Packed with adventure and showcasing the boundless abilities of senior citizens, my novels are described as feel-good escapist tales with happy endings.”
A departure from The Silveries series, Angela has also published the thriller, The Gypsy Killer. Living in Stratford-upon-Avon, she has expanded her horizons
into playwrighting and acting through association with a local playwright and drama group. Her play, ‘Happy Talk’ was staged in 2022. ‘The Wind of Change’, her second one-act play will be staged in 2023.
My fourth novel in The Silveries series, The Silver Dagger, will be published on 22nd May this year and follows the adventures of the resourceful and endearing residents of a fictional luxury retirement complex, located just a few miles outside of Stroud.
“In past years, I have launched my books in my hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon but this year I have decided to take the launch event ‘home’ to Stroud. Consequently, I will be signing my latest novel in Stroud Bookshop on Saturday 24th June between 9.30 and 1pm. I’m also greatly looking forward to a special afternoon with the residents of Woodchester Valley Village that same day to introduce them to the Silveries series.
“I started writing in my mid-sixties whilst caring for my elderly mother, an extremely determined woman, who unfortunately passed away last year aged ninety-nine. Over the years I became more and more conscious of the negative attitudes of others towards the older generation and made it my mission, through my writing, to showcase their knowledge, capability, and resilience. The Silveries series of books was born.
“Now in my early seventies, I write books and plays and have even been known to tread the boards! One of my plays was staged in Stratford-upon-Avon last year and another will be staged in May this year.”
