Award-winning chippy set to open second shop in Stroud

Stroud’s award-winning and  family-run Simpsons Fish & Chips is set to join the expanding Five Valleys Food Hall, with a brand-new stall offering an exciting ‘chippy tapas’ menu.

The new unit is part of the latest extension to the popular food hall, which will welcome three new traders, all aiming to open in time for Stroud’s Goodwill Evening on Friday, December 5.

Already a firm favourite with locals thanks to its much-loved takeaway on Bedford Street, Simpsons will operate both its existing shop and the new food hall outlet side by side.

While the original takeaway will continue to serve its traditional chip shop favourites, the Five Valleys stall will introduce a fresh concept featuring smaller plates, new flavours and options for every dietary need – including gluten-free batter  and vegan choices.

Diners can look forward to a tempting menu of halloumi, scampi, fish goujons, minted pea fritters, an indulgent butty menu and Simpson’s signature double-fried chips.

The new stall will join Vinnie’s Mac & Cheese and a third trader still to be announced, as part of this latest phase of the food hall’s growth.

Visitors to the Five Valleys Food Hall can already enjoy a diverse mix of global flavours, including Cuban, Indian, Thai and Japanese cuisine, alongside a range of delicious sweet treats – with Simpsons set to add even more variety and local flavour to the offer.

Simpsons, which also operates a sister shop in Cheltenham, was crowned winner of the National Fish & Chip Awards in 2016, cementing its place among the UK’s finest.

James Ritchie, Co-Owner of Simpsons Fish & Chips, said:  “We’re really excited to bring something new to the Five Valleys Food Hall while continuing to serve our loyal customers from our original Stroud shop.

“Running two outlets side by side gives us an incredible opportunity to offer both the traditional chip shop experience and our new chippy tapas concept. We can’t wait to open at Five Valleys and be part of this vibrant food  community.”

The food hall expansion comes as the centre also prepares to open its new concept Home of Vintage in a phased launch in the coming weeks.
