Baby needed for ‘Roving Nativity’

MOST READ

Next Sunday will see the running of the annual ‘Roving Nativity’ event in Brimscombe.

A much-loved tradition that sees pupils from Brimscombe Primary School together with members of the church bringing ‘to life’ the Christmas story.

Short scenes taken from nativity are acted out around the village and there is a lot of carol singing for everyone – including spectators – if they want to get involved.

However, this year, at present a baby has not been found that can take on the starring role of Jesus.

“The Roving Nativity has always tried to bring to life the Christmas story in a joyful way that is easily relatable to all ages.” said Rev. Peter Francis.

“This has included, in the past, the use of animals like a horse to carry Mary and whenever possible a ‘live baby’ for the final destination – the stable – at The Ship Inn.

“Normally the baby is a younger sibling of one of the children from the school however, this year there isn’t anyone young enough for the role. If a baby can’t be found we may have to use a doll, which would be a real shame.”

The Roving Nativity will start at Brimscombe Primary School at 4pm and involve a short route around the village ending at The Ship for the final scene and the opportunity to take refreshments.

This free event is open to anyone who would like to come along just make sure you wear a good pair of walking shoes & dress for whatever, the weather brings.

And finally, for anyone who would like their baby to take on the starring role please do get in touch via katewoodwardpr@outlook.com
