It’s been a big couple of weeks here at The Prince Albert. As December is now in full swing, we’re delighted to welcome back some of our much-loved annual Christmas events.
We’ve three sell-out gigs this month, with the last one being the magnificent Mad Dog McRea this evening (Wednesday) at 7pm.
Sundays are taken up with our ‘Unusual Carols’ that have been sung here no for 25 years, so we know these tunes as well as the more ‘usual’ Silent Night and all. Singing starts at 12.30pm on the 21st, and a special post Christmas event and party is on the 28th from 5pm.
We have so many other free events coming up – Thee Pulsations start off the weekend, and then with Chinese Burn and Pebble Daisy blowing up Saturday.

We are members of the Music Venue’s Trust here, as we are a grassroots music venue supporting local and those touring the UK too.
It’s looking like tricky times ahead with rate increases and all the other extra expenditure that is planned. So we have been involved in meetings this last week with other venues nationally, and also the gathering of publicans at Stroud Brewery last week to see what we can do, working together to try and understand what we can do to survive what we see as an attack on our businesses.
I was contacted by our MP, Simon Opher and on Friday he me, Nick and Christophe from the Fleece/Old Lodge to discuss what we feel he can do to help, and take our suggestions back to Parliament. We really hope the treasury can re-think how they apply the multiplier to hospitality, and the cultural venues that are working on such slim margins.

But the pub is about positivity, and we ALL want you to come to our public houses to relax, meet friends, meet new friends and relax.
So I hope to see some of you over the festive season. For me, I personally love catching up with old staff, as well as old school friends returning home for family.
Head to our website www.theprincealbertstroud.co.uk for full details of events and opening hours.
