The next Slight poetry night, organised by Josh Bannister, takes place at Rough Hands café in Stroud’s Five Valleys shopping centre on Saturday, 23rd May.
Slight is a new poetry night for Stroud, and has put on events featuring JLM Morton, Martha Sprackland, Ye Ye, Alun Hughes and more over the last few months. “Slight aims to showcase poetic performance in all its forms,” says organiser Josh Bannister. “From spoken word to experimental, thought-provoking music. We follow the structure, ethos & attitude of DIY punk and hardcore; always free, always for everyone.”
Slight returns this weekend with another double bill: Bet Finch and Adam Horovitz.

Bet Finch is a Stroud-based poet with a passionate interest in performance and poetry sharing communities. She started the Stroud Poetry Scratch Night open mic event at the Star Anise café, and her poetry largely springs from her fascinations in integration, contradiction and shame within human relationships with self and others.
Adam Horovitz will be reading new work, including poems from his recent pamphlet Rock, Paper, Scissors, written in collaboration with Ella Duffy, published by Dialect Press, which is the Poetry Book Society’s pamphlet choice for the summer of 2026.
Slight, featuring Bet Finch and Adam Horovitz, takes place at Rough Hands café, Stroud, from 7pm on Saturday, 23rd May. Entry is free.
