Stroud District Council is making strong progress on three brownfield regeneration projects in the south of the district, aiming to deliver 44 high-quality, energy-efficient affordable homes for local residents.
The £11.75 million construction programme, awarded to Speller Metcalfe, began earlier this year and supports key goals in the Council’s plan to build sustainable housing and regenerate underused land.
Project Details:
- Cambridge Avenue, Dursley
- 13 social rent homes (6 x 2-bed, 7 x 3-bed houses)
- Start: March 2025 | Completion: March 2026
- Funding: £1.82m from Homes England, £371,000 from the Brownfield Land Release Fund
- Social rent homes are typically the lowest-cost option for tenants.
- Gloucester Street/Bradley Street, Wotton-under-Edge
- 8 affordable rent homes (5 x 2-bed, 3 x 3-bed houses)
- Start: March 2025 | Completion: May 2026
- Glebelands, Cam
- 23 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership
- 8 x 1-bed flats (4 for older people)
- 10 x 2-bed and 5 x 3-bed houses
- Enabling works started: June 2025 | Completion: Winter 2026
- 23 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership
Environmental and Community Benefits:
- All homes will have EPC A ratings, solar PV panels, air source heat pumps, and biodiversity features like bird/bat boxes and hedgehog highways.
- Permeable paving will reduce surface water runoff.
- Homes will be advertised via Homeseeker Plus, the council’s lettings system.
