Cainscross RFC U11s are heading to Twickenham
They took part in the club’s first foray into the Landrover Defender Premiership Rugby Cup.
The format is a competitive round-robin playing opportunity where equal team and player participation is the emphasis.
At the end of each game, the referee had to score the teams up to 3 points for each team showing the core values of rugby. These are known as TREDS (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship).
Great rugby was played and the boys all had a great time, and whilst not all playing results went their way, Cainscross were announced winners.
The prize is a half-time pitch parade at Twickenham Stadium on the 27th May during the Premiership Rugby Cup Final.
Everyone at Cainscross RFC including the U11s coaches Mark Newman, Dave Jameson and Liam Hallard, couldn’t be prouder.
Coach Mark Newman said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the team, and it was great to watch them enjoying themselves on and off the pitch. The tournament was really well organised, and it was a pleasure to take part. I was really impressed at the standard of rugby across the U11s age group.”
Club spokesperson Jo Carter said: “If you would like to be involved with this great club, please let us know.
“We are currently actively recruiting for our U11 and U12 teams and would love for your child to be part of this club going forward. Training is on Tuesdays from 5.30-6.30pm and Sundays (game dependant) from 11.15-12.15pm.”
