Uley Brewery, a business at the heart of the community, is celebrating 40 years of brewing this year.
The brewery remains at the heart of Uley, employing and serving local people. To celebrate the brewery will be showcasing 10 special beers this year. Ken Lush the head brewer, has been making beer for Uley Brewery for more than 35 years, including local favourites Old Spot and Pig’s Ear.

Uley is a traditional tower brewery, built into the slopes of Uley Bury Hill, still using traditional brewing techniques and English hops. 2025 will be a year of celebrations and firsts for Uley Brewery as the local business celebrates forty years producing award winning beers.
The late Chas Wright took over the brewery in 1984, fully refurbishing the site with tanks made locally, until the brewery was ready to open again in 1985. The first pint was pulled at The Red Lion, Arlingham, which still serves Uley beer today.

This year the brewery will be producing 10 special beers alongside their six regular brews. From a rich porter to a summery beer with hints of orange, there will be new beers and the revival of seasonal favourites.
Chief Operating Officer Emily Brooks said: “This is an exciting year for the brewery. We have one foot in the past with our commitment to traditional brewing techniques but are looking to secure the future with new beers and more events for the local community to share in”.
