Couple to stage their first joint exhibition

Lynne and Martin Clarke are each taking half of the Chipping Hall in Wotton-under-Edge to stage their first joint exhibition, aptly titled From Both Sides Now.

The title is inspired by the Joni Mitchell song issued in 1969, the year the pair got together at Exeter University.

Lynne Clarke is a well-known landscape artist, previously running the Wotton Art Group for many years. Her last show was the very successful Up Tyley in 2011. This time she will feature local and Cornish landscapes in oil pastel and watercolour plus some innovative styles.

“I am so looking forward to showing my new work. It has been a huge commitment but well worth it. First time we have shown together, and we have enough work to fill the hall,” said Lynne.

Martin Clarke is holding his first exhibition. His paintings show recent work much of it ‘en plein air’ featuring earth pigments that he has collected and processed, and which will be exhibited. Sculptures are mainly small-scale using a variety of materials. He is a member of the Cotswold Sculptors Association.

“After a year or two of preparation we are both excited to see this coming together. We have such contrasting styles and ideas we hope there will be something for everyone.,” said Martin.
