Officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Rural Crime Team are appealing for information following the killing of a deer in Brimscombe.

Police were contacted today, Thursday, July 1, after a member of the public had found a dead Roe deer on a footpath in the Brimscombe area days earlier.

The exact location where the deer was found is Quarhouse Lane and it is believed that it may have been killed on the morning of Monday, June 28 as its wounds appeared to be fresh.

The deer is believed to have been shot as it had bullet wounds to its stomach, leg and neck.

Under the Deer Act 1991, it is a criminal offence to poach, take or kill a female Roe Deer during closed season. As a result officers are asking anyone who witnessed the killing of the deer or has any information to please get in contact.
