Terminator legend Arnie Schwarzenegger is the proud recipient of a diamond signet ring made in Stroud by green entrepreneur Dale Vince.

The 75-year-old actor and former Governor of California was presented with the one-off ring at the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative charity gala auction in Austria, which raised more than a million pounds for environmental protection.

“One was for the auction and one for Arnie,” said Mr Vince, who is also the chairman of League One Forest Green and boss of green energy company Ecotricity.

“All are made with 1.2cts of Sky Diamonds, are engraved with Arnie’s signature and are made with 100% recycled platinum.”

Sky Diamonds are the world’s first diamonds to be made from carbon, water, using wind and solar energy. The technology uses carbon dioxide captured from the atmosphere to from diamonds which are chemically identical to those mined from earth.

The creation process involves placing a ‘diamond seed’ in a sealed chamber, then heat it to 800 degrees Celsius and fill it with carbon-rich methane gas.

Forest Green fans have the opportunity to pocket an eco-friendly diamond ring at every home game in a special half-time draw.
