A burglar is believed to have been spooked by a homeowner’s dog after breaking into a property in Amberley during the early hours of Monday morning.

Police were called at around 2.30am on September 28 following a report that unknown offenders had stolen a CCTV doorbell and used a ladder to gain entry to an upstairs room.

Officers carried out searches of the surrounding area, but the suspect is believed to have fled empty-handed after being disturbed by the homeowner’s dog.

Enquiries are continuing and police are appealing for anyone who may have information or relevant CCTV footage to come forward.
