Marling Sixth Form offers a rare balance between academic opportunity and a happy, relaxed environment. Whatever your interests, it’s a great next step.
With around half of students joining in Year 12, it’s a fresh and exciting start for everyone. Students value the mix of academic challenge, opportunities beyond the classroom, and the welcoming, supportive community. Marling is ambitious for its students – but it’s not just about A Level results, it’s about the individual and what’s best for them.

The school offers a broad range of A Level subjects alongside enrichment options such as creative writing, geology, classics, Gold DofE and fashion textiles. Fashion textiles students have even competed at the Junk Kouture World Finals, most recently held in Monaco and Abu Dhabi. Other trips have taken students to Barcelona, Berlin, and Geneva, where Physics students visited CERN, home of the Large Hadron Collider.

Harry, a current student leader who joined from Severn Vale School, said:
“I was looking for somewhere that would give me freedom but also support to do my best at A Levels. Marling has done that. At the same time, I’ve had the chance to get involved in so many new activities, including leadership.”
Grace, who joined in Year 12 after moving into the area, added:
“It felt like a big move starting a new school in Year 12, particularly from far away, but I found it so welcoming. I know loads of new people now and can’t believe I’ve only been here a year.”

This summer, many Year 13 students matched or exceeded their university offers, with destinations including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL and other Russell Group universities. Others progressed to exciting courses such as Physiotherapy at Birmingham, Veterinary Medicine at Surrey, Music at Goldsmiths, Biomedical Science at Brighton, History at Exeter and Criminology at Bristol. Several secured highly competitive Level 6 and 7 apprenticeships with employers including BAE Systems, KPMG and Tony Gee Engineering.
Louise Harris, Head of Marling Sixth Form, said: “One of our greatest strengths is the diversity of interests, talent and aspirations that make the Sixth Form such a thriving environment. No matter your academic background, you’ll receive support, challenge and opportunities to make your dreams a reality. Our sixth form is the best of both worlds: developing independence while being challenged to achieve your best.”
