Ahead of the January transfer window, embattled Forest Green boss David Horseman has been backed by chairman Dale Vince to save Rovers from the drop.
The relegation threatened side are currently three points from safety.
With a number of disgruntled fans baying for Horseman’s head, Vince is steadfast in his support for the former Southampton coach, he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire’s Steve Kitchen: “It certainly doesn’t help motivate a team that needs support, they need positivity and the team is not just the players it is the staff as well.
“We’ve got to get behind them and help them do our job, that’s certainly how I approach it and that’s what we’re doing. I’m determined not to let it [relegation] happen.”
Vince admitted the backroom staff are all singing from the same hymn sheet and he expects the January transfer window to be a busy one: “The conversations are between David, me and Allan [Steele] our director of football and we’re all on the same page.
“If anything, I’ve pushed the conversation further, pushed the envelope further, in terms of what we need to do just to take away any inhibition of what might be required budget-wise.
“I’ve said, ‘blank sheet of paper, what do we really need to turn this around? Where are we weak on the pitch? What do we need to bring in?’
“We’ve got our target list – it’ll be quite a few recruitments in January.”
Matches aren’t won on computers, but Vince revealed analysis carried out by the New Lawn top brass will go along way into securing League Two football next season: “We’ve spent a lot of time looking at the reasons for our current league position. There are a number of them,” Vince said.
“I’m confident that we’ve put a lot of time and thought into this, and analysis, and we’re doing everything we possibly can to solve the issues we have.”
